Hello,
I'm Victoria, a registered nurse and freelance health writer on a mission to increase health literacy and provide relatable, evidence-based health information to all.

I've been a registered nurse working in Alberta, Canada, for over 12 years. Throughout my career I have practiced in various areas that include:
-
Primary Care Clinics
-
Education consultant at the Chinook Primary Care Network
-
Home Care
-
Acute Medicine
-
Geriatrics
-
Mental Health

As a primary care nurse educator, I had autonomy to explore health topics that interested me. I became knowledgeable on various chronic diseases with diabetes and obesity being a primary focus. Weight loss, nutrition, women's health, cervical screening, wound care, vaccine management, mental health, quality improvement within the health care setting... I was thankful to experience it all!

On my days off, you will likely find me on an adventure with my two young kids, getting in a session at the Pilates studio, cooking, gardening or hanging out with my two cats.
My Story
Writing has always come naturally to me and is something I have enjoyed since I was a child. In university, I worked as a research assistant to produce a published study on how minority nursing students experience belonging during clinical experiences. You can find it here.

As a health educator, I quickly noticed that there were obvious gaps in the health care system. I frequently struggled to find teaching materials that met my high standards. As a result, I turned to creating my own resources for patients that offered current, trustworthy information in a pleasing format.

Over the past few years I have witnessed a severe shortage of family doctors. In our community alone, 40, 000 people are currently without a family physician. Those that do have family doctors can be waiting up to a month or more to see their provider. Add in crowded emergency rooms and healthcare workers under enormous strain, no wonder people are turning to online sources more than ever to answer their health-related questions.

Here is where I come in.

Let me bridge these gaps while giving your health content credibility.
